I have been swamped here lately. Either spending time with my girls, working on my truck or my latest web project. This whole time a verse has been resonating in my mind: “Be still, and know that I am God;  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” -Psalm 46:10 I have always assumed this meant to stop what you are doing and make time to spend with the Lord in prayer and study… While this is needed to have a living relationship with the creator, the verse above has so much more meaning when I looked at the Hebrew text and the context of the verse. I learned that to “be still” means to surrender and be weak in the Hebrew text and used in context it is to surrender and know that God is in control!

When I surrender everything in my life and even the lives of my children, I am acknowledging that God has the power and that He knows exactly what I need as opposed to what I think is best. Jesus said it best: “your will be done” Matthew 6:9-13! God’s will not mine be done. If I am going to walk this road with Him, I better let Him take the lead, Lord knows every time I step up front, I end up down a dead end road and have to walk extra far to back track.

Time does fly by, the end gets nearer each day for all of us. I am learning that if I just be still and surrender everything to God, He will be the God He says He is and take care of all these small things I fret over. A wonderful side effect I am learning is He also gives a beautiful peace to me as a bonus!

Which bible? Which religion?
